How to Send Mail or Package
All personal mail for and from inmates must be clearly marked with the sender’s full name and address and the receiver’s full name and address. Inmates are supplied with two stamped envelopes and writing paper each week. The jail’s mailing address is:

The Marion County jail commissary is operated by JailATM. Funds may be added to inmates’ accounts via their website or in person at the Sheriff’s Office.
Visitation Hours
Inmates are allotted 15 minutes of visitation time per day, regardless of the number of visitors. As many visitors as will comfortably fit in the visitation room are allowed to attend each visit. Each visitor must have a photo ID and is subject to a background check. The visitation schedule is arranged by housing assignment and visitors must call ahead to be given a time frame for visitation.
Cells A and B have visitation on Tuesdays from 8AM – 11AM and 1PM – 4PM. Cells C and D have visitation on Thursdays from 8AM – 11AM and 1PM – 4PM.
Additional Jail Information
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office hosts a Most Wanted page online, which provides offenders’ names, birthdates, identifying details, and charges. These posts are updated when offenders are arrested. They also have a Facebook page that posts weekly updates about the activities of each division within the office (i.e. investigators, deputies, etc). These include the number of people booked into and released from the detention center, as well as a tally of the current inmate population.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department operates the county jail. The office’s administrative unit includes the Sheriff, Administrative Assistants, Jail Administrator and Enforcement Supervisors.
Gregg L. Alexander has been the Sheriff since 2023. Administrative hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm.

A sample FOIA request is provided at the link below. Requests should be written, provide as much detail as possible about the records requested, and include the full name and contact information of the person making the request. Requests may be made in person or submitted via mail, email, or fax. The copying fee must be paid before the records will be released.
