Visitation Hours
Visitation with inmates is scheduled by classifications. Those charged with felonies may be visited on Saturdays from 08:30 am-11:30 am. Those charged with misdemeanors may be visited on Sundays from 08:30 am-11:30 am. There is a lunch break from 12:30 pm-1:45 pm each day and visitation ends at 2pm. Each inmate is allowed one 20 minute visit each week and up to 4 people may attend each visit. Each visitor must have an official form of ID and anyone 12 years old or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Additional Jail Information
The Sheriff’s Office keeps rosters of active warrants and most wanted online. These rosters provide the names and identifying details of offenders, their charges, and their mugshots, when available.
Independence County Sheriff Information
The county jail is operated by the local Sheriff’s Office. Shawn Stephens is the current Independence County Sheriff, Aaron Moody is the Chief Deputy, and Rita Garlin is the Office Administrator. The staff also includes 16 deputies that patrol the roads. Administrative office hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm.

Requests may be submitted and received in person or by mail, fax, or email. Records are, however, typically emailed to requestors.
