The Jackson County jail is located in Newport, Arkansas. It has two 10 bed housing areas for men, one 3 bed housing area for women, three isolation cells, a drunk tank, and a suicide watch cell. The current jail administrator is Captain Cindy Lane and Sergeant BJ Grubbs is a Detention Officer. The jail houses pre-trial detainees and post-conviction inmates serving sentences or awaiting transport to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

Jackson County Sheriff Information

The county jail is operated and maintained by the local Sheriff’s Department. David Lucas is the current Sheriff and Major James Brock is the Chief Deputy. The staff also includes 9 deputies. Administrative hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
